What Curries Are Flavoursome, But Not Spicy?

When people think of mild curries, their mind immediately goes to such dishes as Kormas and Tikka Masalas. However, beyond this they tend to struggle to come up with any names. Here at ChefOnline, we understand that not everyone wishes to have their taste buds blown off by spicy curries – there is nothing wrong with this. However, we believe that it would be a good thing if people decided to broaden their horizons, and try new dishes. It is for this reason that we are pleased to be able to offer some advice on some of the nicest curries that are not laced with spice.

Pasanda

This is a dish that, whilst similar to a Korma in terms of its primary ingredients, carries more flavour in general. The cool flavour that it exudes comes from the combination of yoghurt and coconut milk. If you are wanting to have a little more bite to it, we would advise that you include cumin, onions, and peppercorns into the mix. If we were to sum up the general taste that comes across, we would say that it has a distinct tang.

Saag Paneer

This is a fantastic curry for those individuals that particularly enjoy having a vast array of vegetables in their dish. Although many people believe that this refers specifically to spinach, Saag Paneer can include any greens of the leafy variety. Similar to the Pasanda, it once again has coconut milk as a base ingredient; alongside cheese, it is a warm-but-smooth flavour that you can enjoy with ease.

Makhani

For many people, this dish goes by another name – Butter Chicken. The term ‘Makhani’ is a Hindi word which means butter. Considered by many to be one of the mildest curries in circulation, it has a fairly simple recipe. With sliced tomatoes and cream, you have a smooth sauce; alongside a smattering of mild spices, you have a curry that can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone.

Kasmiri Pulao

Should you enjoy a curry that is sweet through-and-through, look no further than the Kasmiri Pulao. Incorporating such ingredients as dried fruits and saffron, you can be sure that this will not burn your mouth. Your palette will be enhanced greatly by trying this, and you will also have the chance to enjoy a mixture of pleasant aromas wafting up from the dish.
