Why an Indian is one of the Healthiest Takeaways

As a nation we love takeaways. No matter whether you would like a pizza or a Chinese, the majority of people will opt for a takeaway over going out to eat – especially because it is now so easy to order food online.

Of course, the spices used within the dishes – like turmeric, ginger, garlic and green chillies – all have medicinal and healing properties which is another bonus. So, when people think of Indian food as being spicy, what they are not realising is that the spices used to make the dishes are actually good for the body and don’t just taste nice.

Higher metabolism

It is a well-known fact that spicy food can affect your metabolism. Research has shown that eating spicy foods can increase your heart rate and, in turn, give your metabolism a boost. It is thought that the main element that gives chilis their heat (capsaicin) is responsible for creating this effect, as it generates heat and raises the body temperature upon consumption.

Being generally low in fat, high in vegetables, fruit and lean meat, an Indian takeaway is a better option than the majority of other takeaways. However, like any takeaways with an Indian, you can, of course, make your chosen meal as healthy or unhealthy as you decide.
